- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 lb ground beef, 80/20 blend
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
- 1/4 cup jalapeños, diced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 large bread boat or hollowed crusty loaf
- Optional: 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
- Optional: 2 tbsp fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Select a large round or oval crusty loaf and cut the top quarter off horizontally.
- Hollow out the interior, leaving about 1/2 inch of bread around the walls and bottom.
- Reserve the removed bread pieces for dipping.
- Place the hollowed bread boat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Brown the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks, until no pink remains.
- Drain excess fat from the cooked ground beef and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
- Fold in the cooked ground beef until evenly combined.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until fully incorporated.
- Fold in chopped green onions and diced jalapeños, reserving some for garnish.
- Transfer the mixture into the hollowed bread boat and smooth the top.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown and bubbling around the edges.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Garnish with reserved green onions, jalapeños, and optional fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
Soften the cream cheese fully before mixing for the smoothest texture. Toast the hollowed bread boat for 5 minutes before filling if you want extra protection against sogginess.
