A quick and textured snack that mimics traditional fried wrappers using simple pantry-friendly ingredients. These lightweight wrappers crisp up significantly when pan-fried, offering a satisfying crunch.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1215 sheets Rice paper
  • 1 lb Ground chicken (or tofu/minced mushrooms)
  • 2 cups Cabbage, finely shredded
  • 3 stalks Green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tsp Ginger, freshly grated

Instructions

  1. Combine ground chicken, cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger in a large mixing bowl and mix thoroughly until uniform.
  2. Submerge a single sheet of rice paper in a shallow basin of warm water for about five seconds until soft.
  3. Place the hydrated circle on a flat surface, add a tablespoon of the filling in the center, fold the sides inward, and roll tightly.
  4. Heat one tablespoon of neutral oil in a wide non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  5. Place prepared parcels into the hot oil with space between each to prevent sticking.
  6. Fry for three minutes per side until the exterior is deep golden brown and crunchy, then drain on paper towels.

Notes

Keep water tepid so the rice paper does not dissolve too quickly. Use a non-stick pan exclusively to avoid tearing. Avoid crowding the pan to ensure a golden crust. Store leftovers in an airtight glass container for up to 3 days and reheat in a skillet or air fryer to restore crispness.
